The Show Must Go On
I'm headed south for a few days to take in the Winter Antiques Show and the New York International Gift Fair. (I wish I were going really south to beat the frigid temperatures here in the northeast. Can somebody send me?)
The Winter Antiques Show is a star-studded event with dealers from around the globe exhibiting some of the best the world has to offer in antiques. I love antiques and am thrilled to be able to see such a fine display up close. I'm especially excited that this year's show has a special exhibition of treasures rounded up (although not for sale) from eight of Newport, Rhode Island's historic mansions. Living only about 75 miles from Newport, I visit the mansions when I need a glamour fix, most recently last Labor Day weekend. (I posted this picture of my daughter, Molly, on Facebook with the caption, "We're house hunting.") Look for a blog post next week about the show.

I'll also be spending a few days at the New York International Gift Fair and reporting on this for New England Home magazine's design blog next week. This show is the singular marketplace for what's new and noteworthy in fashions and giftware for the home. It's great eye candy, but not so sweet for the feet.
